Housh Takes A Shot At SeattleT

Posted by Vern, Yesterday, 10:29 PM

TJ Houshmandzadeh found a new home in Baltimore and wasted very little time taking a nice little shot at Seattle.

It is puzzling to see what Seattle is doing here? Why dump Houshmandzadeh and not have a significant upgrade waiting in the wings. Sure, Housh is not what he is once was, but he should do quite well in the Baltimore offense. Joe Flacco is still developing but he has two great targets in Housh and Anquan Boldin. Throw in Derrek Mason and of course the number one option in the offense Ray Rice, and Baltimore has a chance to have a special year.

Once Housh gets a bit more acclimated with the Raven offense, he should have some nice PPR value.

Housh Done In Seattle

T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been sent home by the Seahawks

Not good for fantasy owners, especially in a PPR league, hoping for some production from Housh.

Bush Maybe Out Longer Than Opener

Posted by Vern, Sep 2 2010, 11:21 PM

If you are like me, you have zero faith that Darren McFadden can be a high end running back. It looks like he is going to get a chance to do so, at least for the first few games of the season.

Michael Bush appeared to be the starter and had the most potential to put up the best fantasy numbers this season. But he sustained a broken thumb and maybe out longer than week one.

The Oakland Tribune said that he could be out for a quarter of the season.

I have zero interest in McFadden but this situation certainly increases his value.

Hernandez Gets 1-Year Extension

Posted by Vern, Aug 29 2010, 11:32 PM

It is certainly not the pitcher that Nationals fans were hoping would be one of their main starters next season, but Livan Hernandez is going to be back for his 16th season next year in a Washington uniform.

READ HERE

Hernandez has been a huge surprise for the Nationals and fantasy owners, winning just nine games but racking up 175+ innings and an ERA of 3.49. While he is certainly not a top end starter, he gave fantasy owners a nice waiver wire boost this year. Going into the season, he was not even selected in a large majority of league drafts.

He has the support in Washington, the question remains if he will have the support of the fantasy world next season.

Avery May Miss The Entire Season

Posted by Vern, Aug 26 2010, 11:03 PM

The Rams weak passing game may have gotten even weaker with the potential season ending injury suffered by Donnie Avery. The Rams number one wide receiver was carted off the field on Thursday night in New England - and it may knock him out for the entire year.

MRI results will be available on Friday but it does not look good - take him off your board as a WR3 or WR4.

Rice Has Hip Surgery

Posted by Vern, Aug 24 2010, 03:01 PM

Sidney Rice will miss at least half of the year after undergoing hip surgery.

The Vikings signed veteran Javon Walker as well, who will have little or no fantasy value until he proves he still has the ability to stay healthy.

With Percy Harvin's headaches, the Vikings have real issues with their wide outs just weeks before the season begins.

Do They Have Fantasy Leagues For This?

It is hard to argue with the popularity of football and MMA. How about a sport that combines both of these sports?

CHECK THIS OUT

Do they have fantasy leagues for this?

When Will Favre Deal Become Official?

Posted by Vern, Aug 17 2010, 09:33 PM

All indications, according to Pro Football Talk, is that Wednesday will be a big day at Vikings training camp.

While he'll have to take a physical, and potentially work out a new contract, Favre may officially be back in a Viking uniform on Wednesday.

Others, like Sirius NFL Radio, feel that it will be more likely Thursday.

Either way, this is no big surprise and it is actually relieving to get it out of the way.

What is ESPN to do?

From a fantasy perspective, Favre is a lock to be a top-ten quarterback again and put up over 3,500 yards and 25 TD.

K-Rod Situation Getting Ugly

Posted by Vern, Aug 17 2010, 09:21 PM

By know, especially if you are a Francisco Rodriguez owner, you know that K-Rod is out for the year. The Mets closer had to have surgery on a thumb ligament after an altercation with the father of his girlfriend.

Today the Mets placed K-Rod on their disqualified list for violating the terms of his contract. The players union says they strongly disagree with the decision and are going to fight for Rodriguez, and his wallet.

He is owed a bit over $3 million this year, which he wouldn't get a penny of if things continue down this path. The Mets would like to have him back next year and he is owed over $15 million beyond this season.

But how will this situation hurt the long term relationship? All indications are that he will be fine physically, but will he be right mentally after losing out on $3 million bucks? Time will tell.....stay tuned.

Why Rex Ryan Rules

Posted by Vern, Aug 11 2010, 10:27 PM

I have no problem admitting, I have a man crush on Jets coach Rex Ryan. Is that wrong? I am not a Jets fan...I am a bit too young to appreciate his father Buddy...so what is the appeal?

The appeal is that he is everything a head coach should be.

Knowledgeable. Respected. Boisterous. Obnoxious. Jovial. Great with media. Fat.

There is no doubt who is in charge of the Jets.

HBO's Hard Knocks debuted tonight (Wed, Aug 11) and Ryan was on fire with his one liners and attitude towards his players. One of the story lines that is dominating Jets camp is the holdout of standout corner Darrelle Revis.

Ryan had this to say today....
