Week 1 Waiver Wire -
Posted by T-N-T, Sep 19 2009, 05:59 PM
Now that we have all drafted our teams, it is time to work the waiver wire. We see a couple of potential valuable players on the wire and wanted to review few of them.
Week 1
TE's
Robert Royal - He was a sleeper going into the season for me. Brady Quinn loves his TE, (as all inexperiance QBs do). Week one he had 4 catches for 60 yds and a TD. Don't expect 16 pts every week but could make a solid backup TE for those who lack depth.
Ben Watson - Had a huge week for the Patriots and always seems to start off hot...then falls off the earth. If you are hurting early in the season he may make a decent start.
WR.
Lois Murphy - He looked like the first round pick - not "I am afraid to get hit Heyward-BEY" Lois comes in polished and could be a solid player. He is likly gone in most leagues but a few leagues he has fallen.
Michael Clayton - With the injury to Antonio Bryant, Clayton posted great numbers week 1 5 catches for 93 yards. Not a huge fan of this offense (other then RBs) however he has a chance to be a solid player.
Johnny Knox - He is the #3 Target in Chicago and it looks like they want to air it out this year. It seems like him and Cutler are building chemistry. Not sure I would pick him up but keeping a close watch on him.
Julian Endelman - He is currently banged up but after watching Joey Galloway play Monday Night I am not sold on him as the #3 WR in NE. Endelman was a QB in College but has Wes Welker like abilities. The patriots released Greg Lewis which indicates they like this kid. Keep an eye out as he may make a good late pick.
Re-United Sleepers
Posted by T-N-T, Aug 12 2009, 02:36 PM
It has been a while since we have written on this blog so figured we would catch up. After an ok season, 3rd place finish for Tim B, Top 3 Post Season Challenge for Tim D we decided that we are best together…so we are reunited with 2 teams…reunited and it……...you know the words to the song.
Anyway, that makes me think about another great way to find sleepers. Last year we talked about a couple of key ways to spot sleepers. You can read the full article by going to: http://www.wcofs.com/site/tnt/article/timdaneau/sleeper however our main guidelines were:
1) Do they fit the coaches system?
2) Did their team show signs in the off-season to make him/or his position a priority.
3) Why has he not done well in the past or has he?
4) What is their minimum role vs. maximum role?
5) What is his role in training camp/preseason?
Another great way which fits with the above criteria is finding guys who have been successful with coaches, teammates..etc. Going back to reunited theme, there are a few players we are keeping a close eye on this preseason that have been reunited with people they have had success with. Here are a couple.
Earl Bennett – Chicago Bears
Re-united with QB Jay Cutler
Earl Bennett is a great sleeper. He was a third round draft pick in 2008. He was side lined all of his rookie year. This year he is being given an opportunity to win a starting job, and given the fact as a rookie at Vanderbilt he posted 79 Catches for 876yds and 9TDs it is safe to say he and Cutler have some past chemistry. With no real competition and the past success, Bennett is someone we will be keeping a close eye on.
DJ Hackett – WR Washington Redskins
Re-United with Jim Zorn
DJ Hackett, showed great potential with the Seahawks under Zorn. Though he couldn’t stay healthy (a problem that followed in Carolina) when he played he put up good numbers. In his last season under Zorn he averaged over 5 catches per game, 64yds and .5 TDs. (Basically 14.4pts per week average.) It was no surprise Zorn scooped him after being cut. Though he is not even a sure thing to make the team he is already impressing during scrimmages. Keep an eye out for him this season as it is a great offense for him and IF he can stay healthily and IF he makes the team, he may make a great deep sleeper.
Big 10 Game of the YEAR!!!

Breaking up is hard to do!
Posted by T-N-T, Oct 3 2008, 01:40 PM
This was the first year that Tim(Beaulieu) and I (Daneau) spilt up to create 2 T-N-T Teams. Coming off of back to back league championships we were questioning whether or not spliting up was a wise move. However the holiday offer was just too good to pass up.
Looking back at the first qtr. of the season I have to admit the jury is still out. Both of us are doing extremly well in pts 42/62nd overall however I think our mojo is gone. (Or at least mine!)
This has been a crazy year for injuries. Big time players are hurt. During our past years in the WCOFF we had some big injuries and were able to get by but this year has a different feel. I have already lost Colston, Shockey, and now the #1 ranked WR Boldin. Add in the fact that D.McFadden is dinged up and (now #2 receiver) Donald Driver may lose his QB and I am a little down on my chances.
Tim has a strong team with receivers Jennings, Calvin Johnson and Marshall putting up big pts. And Cutler has been lights out for both of us.
I currently have a record of 1-3 as I am getting no luck in that department either.
--- I know I know.... My purpose is not to complain....as a matter of fact that is fantasy football. But it does lead me to the point that the WCOFF has the most fair rules in the industry. They take the fun head to head format and combine it with points to make sure the best 2 teams make the finals. Also, it keeps more teams alive through the course of the year. If it were head to head my season would be virtually finished. How many out there could say the same? So even though I am having a rough season, I still have a shot and at the end of the day that is all everyone really wants..... Can't believe we are already 4 weeks finshed in another WCOFF Season!

NFL Preseason Betting - Strategy/Picks
Posted by T-N-T, Aug 9 2008, 02:24 PM
Before putting all of our focus on high stakes fantasy football Tim and I were handicappers. The NFL preseason was actually a good time to put action on games as if you do your research you can typically find some games that the books missed.. Here are a couple of things we would look for when researching the line mis-matches.
1) New Coaches. - Find a team that has new coaches trying to make a point. These coaches typically put more of a priority on winning pre-season games, plus most players are new to that coach and need to play to show what they have. A good example of this so far would be the Redskins in the Hall of Fame Game.
2) Who has the most to gain - Find a team that has a bunch of players competing for jobs. In this case you know that players (potential starters) will be playing hard for at least 3 Qtrs. A great example of this was Seattle last night (per our blog)
Obviously look for teams that will play starters longer vs. teams that will only play one series but overall the 2 points above are the best way to find a line mismatch.
That being said tonight Atlanta and Washington make great plays. Both have new coaches wanting to win. In Atlanta's case they have good depth at QB. And will need to show more then JAX who have more of there jobs wrapped up. The Redskins will be playing their second game so should have more things ironed out. Buffalo is trying to run a new system for the first time on offense (Should be a better one this year) but that usually takes time to iron out during the preseason.
So there you have it - If you are in Vegas - Lay a small one down on the Skins/Falcons.

Friday Night Lights
Posted by T-N-T, Aug 8 2008, 04:49 PM
I wish that football could be on every night...then again I wish to stay married....
Didn’t have as much time to check who is playing but here are a couple of things we are watching for tonight!
PHI - Backup running back situation. Booker, Hunt, Buckhalter.
PIT - Back up RB’ (Mendenhall, Russell, M. Moore),if Willie Parker plays how he bounces back from injury.
SEA- Everything. A bunch of guys need to look good in pre-season - A good bet tonight! Backup QB Frye/Wallace Running Backs Jones/Morris/TJ Duckett and Keep an eye on Justin Forsett. WRs Courtney Taylor, Ben Obomanu and others fighting out for the #3 spot while Branch heals. TE - John Carlson .
MIN - Tarvaris Jackson and WR's Berrian, Rice, Wade.
SF - JT O'Sullivan getting the start at QB..with rumors Smith may be cut! Backup running backs Foster/Robinson. WR’s….Who is picking up the offense. How will Martz use Vernon Davis? How does Delanie Walker look...been hearing a ton about him. Most important thing to look for is rhythm from the offense...are they getting Martz offense or are there road blocks.
OAK - McFadden, and Michael Bush. Bush could be a wild card in this backfield. WR Drew Carter....been hearing he is tearing up mini-camps...but
Things to watch for: NFL Thursday Night Preseason Football

Have I mentioned that I love this time of year?! I am excited to watch all of the games being played tonight. (TIVO is such a great invention)
Here is what we are watching for in each game:
NYG @ Det
Det: Play calling on the offensive side. What type of running game are they going to feature..etc.
NYG: How they use each back - Bradshaw, Ward. Not sure if they are playing tonight or not but anxious to see who has what role.
Bal @ NE
Bal - Cam's offense. How will they utilize RBs. Close eye on 3rd down back Ray Rice
NE - Not going to show much but interested in the battle between Gaffney/Jackson - LB Mayo, and what they do with LB Thomas.
Nyj vs CLE
NYJ - Interested in watching OLine, some new big additions. Also, keeping close eyes on all 3 backs Jones, Washington, Chatman.
CLE- Derek Anderson. Does he get a good start to preseason. Struggled down the stretch with interceptions...bad decisions. Does it carry over to preseason.
NO @ ARI
NO - RB P.Thomas. He is a hot topic and keeping a close eye on his preseason.
ARI - Tim Hightower...he is moving up in camp and is now #2 back. Also keeping an eye on Pope...showed some potential last year. Lastly looking at #3 wr in case of injury to Boldin/Fitz.
KC @ Chi
KC - Hearing that LJ will get some work. It will be interesting to see how he looks after last years injury.
CHI - Forte, Peterson both with a bunch of upside. Wr's Hester, Booker, Llyod, Bennett and Davis...who is going to be the lead guy?
What will you be watching for?
